Let's Talk Canadian Politics: Citizenship & Advocacy in Interesting Times
March 17, 2026 (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
We live in interesting political times. Close to home, provincial politics appear more polarized and contentious than they were in the past. Nationally, we are divided on how best to address economic and political threats from a changing world. How can individuals navigate these challenging political waters? In this talk, Lisa Young will talk about strategies for citizens to inform themselves and engage with political decision-makers, whether as individuals or members of groups.
Lisa Young is a professor of Political Science at the University of Calgary, and a long-time observer of Alberta politics. In addition to her academic research, she has written about Alberta politics for Alberta Views magazine, The Tyee and The Conversation Canada, and on her substack “What Now? An Alberta Politics Newsletter” (lisayoung.substack.com). Much of her current research focuses on Alberta politics.
